We couldn’t help it but – after a week and a half of eating 6000 calories a day without moving – go for a hike today.
Due to our carlessness, the choice was easy and we started the “Lookintothecountrypath” (Schauinslandweg) around 9:30. The scenic loop itself was only 11 km long, but we had to walk 7 km to get there and to come back, which left us with an average-high Camino day of 25 km. It was really hot and it felt weird to walk without hiking poles and weight on our backs. The path itself was pretty, but on the way there and back we had to hike along the street for a while, which gave us the real Camino feeling. We even got lost and had to walk back up a step asphalt hill to get back on track.

After the first 15 km, we had a classic lunch break with tuna and avocado on a nice Picknick spot. Afterwards, the path took us to a high point with a view tower from where we could see the whole Saarland (everyone but Mitch, who is still without glasses).
I had walked this path before, but now after having walked the camino, it was funny to see the villages and nature from a tourist-like, clear perspective.

After these very tiring 25 km though the heat and a short shopping tour, my parents prepared delicious pizzas and Flammkuchen for us and we had a nice evening in the garden. Johanna had gone dancing and came back late but the evening ended earlier than usual as we have a long train ride before us tomorrow (were going to visit Tom in the black forest) and a short night behind us.
