After working until 12 last night, I slept in this morning and had a relaxed breakfast before leaving (and I’ve decided that’s perfectly okay!). My day today was dedicated to the most touristy historic sights of the city and started with the obligatory Acropolis and the correspondent museum. The fist nice surprise was that as a European student I have free access to any of the historical sites and museums of Athens. Also there were not too many people and no queues. The Acropolis itself is … big! I sometimes think that we actually don’t have to go to the Machu Picchus and Pyramids and Acropolises anymore because we have…

Day 3 – Athens
As I spent most of the day in airports and plane, there is not too much to say today. I left Madrid in the morning and landed in my Airbnb in Athens at around 7 pm. I am living with a very nice guy in a downtown neighborhood about 15 minutes walking-distance from the Acropolis. My first impression of this city/country is that it is different from what I expected. I didn’t expect it to differ very much from north-western European cities but it does. I haven’t been to the center yet but what I saw walking around in the direct surroundings seems much poorer than I thought it would…

It’s weird how the excuse of saying goodbye reunites you with even your most occupied friends. I even said goodbye to the lady at the fish market and on my last night out, luck made me run into a woman with whom I used to share the changing rooms when I did my #swimdrawings in fall and winter. Apart from a…

Day -14
I think that for a journey like this, there is a start prior to the actual, physical start of traveling. Which is why I have decided to start my blog now, two weeks before heading off. I don’t remember the exact moment I decided I needed to move, but it wasn’t really long ago. Just 6 months ago I started this whole new life, finding a nice flat in which I never really got to feel at home, buying lots of stuff that I am now selling and giving away again and building up new routines that I didn’t have enough time to get attached to or even like very…
