GR11 Transpyrenaica Aug-Sept 2022

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow I will start my next big adventure. In the next 20-25 days or so, I plan to walk the GR11, which is a trail crossing the pyrenees, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. The whole trail would be 46 pretty ambitious days, but I’m doing my own version of if, starting in Roncesvalles and hopefully arriving somewhere close to Vielha.

I won’t be blogging and I mostly won’t even have cellphone connection BUT I recently bought a Garmin inReach to add a little extra security to this adventures. The Garmin will (hopefully) track my every move by sending a GPS position to a satellite every 10 minutes and sending it back to a website that is free to access for everyone. This way, who ever wants to do so, can follow me and always know where I am. Which is cool. What is even cooler is that in a real emergency the Garmin has an SOS button which will put all emergency services to work and send me helicopters, search teams or whatever is necessary. Of course this will not happen. But it’s really nice to have.

I’ll be sleeping in mountain huts some times, in albergues other times, on campsites sometimes, and camping wild in my newly acquired ultralight tent some other times. My plan ist to set a little “Waypoint” on my Garmin every night when I reached my day’s goal and select a symbol that describes my sleeping situation for the night.

I hope everything works well, and some of you enjoy following me on the map 🙂

Cheers!

PD: Some technical advice: The map is best to use in its Desktop version. On the menu on the left you can select “Routes” to see all the routes I have on my device and which I am planning to do. They will be red, and sometimes yellow and green, which has no meaning to you. My track, so what I already walked will be blue and you can see it under “Tracks”. There will be symbols wherever I put a Waypoint and they can be viewed in detail under “Waypopints”.

I'm Anna and I decided to leave everything behind and travel for a few months in order to reorganize my life.
