As this is my last day in Ohrid, my plan is to explore the parts where I haven’t been until now. I take the bike after breakfast and drive through the center and out of Ohrid. First on the city roads and then on increasingly small roads I go straight forward to the outer, countryside parts of the small town. People live in nice houses that are very well comparable to housing in Saarland, many of them have some wine on their yards, hazel plants and small corn fields in the gardens (that’s where all the grilled corn comes from).
Life seems quiet out here, I encounter few cars or people in general. When the mountains come closer, I turn left and make my way back to one of the main roads, that fortunately has a bike road, and drive back into the city. Afterwards, I try making a bow around the hill on which old town and castle stand and drive back towards the lake on the other side of the city. As I had already suspected, the beaches here are not as nice as the others and I climb the Ohrid hill half carrying the bike towards my beach from two days ago. I have decided not to paraglide today. Some dreams have to stay unfulfilled for now, just to keep up the mystery.

After swimming (and seeing a water snake!) when I’m just drying up and reading on a stone, a cloud takes away the sun from me and when I look up it’s not only one but practically the whole sky full of them. On the other side of the lake I can see one of them making it rain in form of a white punctual curtain. The rain monster is coming closer and it’s getting colder and windier so I pack up my stuff and go back to the center. It seems like September wants to manifest itself not only in the date but also in the weather today.
I buy some fish and fruit at “the usual” places on the market and drive back home where I stay for at least an hour because I’m just too tired to get up again.
I end up having my fish for a late lunch and continue my chilling and my book a little later at the shore of the lake, where the sun is shining again. Staying here for one more day was the right decision. Yesterday I would have regretted leaving, but now it feels okay to leave tomorrow. The next days are going to be full of adventure and activity again, so I’m also enjoying the relaxation. Of course not without making friends:
Tomorrow I’m going to leave the country of chill and go to Kosovo, which is still completely new for me.
P.D.: Macedonia has the most beautifully designed money!:
