Today was our painting day and we left for the autists’ school at 8:30. To get there, we tried out a new means of public transportation: the Trolebus, which was very shaky and fun.

Mixing colours, discussing, painting, correcting, experimenting, we spent the morning until 1:30, when we went to have lunch close by.
After this, the sun had turned and there was now no more shade on our wall. Hot and exhausted, we did the finishing touches and corrections until we decided the painting was finished at 4.

After cleaning up and saying goodbye, part of the group decided to go home to relax and me and two others went to the garden nursery of our neighborhood, where the angry squirrels were supposed to be. Although it wasn’t quite like the plague we had imagined, we saw about 10 squirrels and they were very trustful and curious and came close to see if we had any food for them.

After this, we walked a little through Coyoacán again, which is just a beautiful neighborhood with incredible houses and colors and patios and gardens.

Around half past 6, when we had already reached home, the obligatory thunderstorm started and even the lights turned off for a few minutes.
I decided to stay in tonight and cook some vegetables and chicken. Amongst them, there was also some Nopal, which is one of the typical plants around here and which is used as a vegetable (the leaves) and a fruit (the fruit is called “tuna” and I already tried it). I found it to be very acid and didn’t like it very much but was glad to try it. I also had a Tamal with chocolate, which was okay.

It is really sad that I cannot try any of the really incredible food everyone is having all the time out on the streets. Asking about ingredients around here is just too exhausting and insecure and I’m actually used to not trying stuff. Nevertheless, I know I would enjoy it very much.
