It hadn’t been very hard to discard our original plan to get up at 5 and drive to the Swiss Alps today. The weather forecast for that region had predicted rain so we decided to stay in the sunny black forest which would also grant us 3.5 more hours of sleep.
We started breakfast at 8:30 and took off pretty late around 11 towards the Zauberwald (“magic forest”) in Bernau. There, we did a beautiful little loop path through the magic forest with lots of wooden figures, huts and signs and the most amazing landscape with tall trees and a small river.

It was already very hot when we got out of the forest and we proceeded directly to our next destination, making only a short break for lunch shopping. We arrived at the Schluchsee around noon and jumped into the water immediately.
The “hose lake” is pretty large and shaped like a hose, with lots of nice grassy and sandy spots along the shore. One of them we claimed our home for the day and spent it eating, playing with a ball, swimming and chilling.

We left the lake at 7 and despite being really tired, ran up a mountain to see the (very unspectacular) sunset from up there. When we were done doing the grocery shopping for dinner and tomorrow and had cooked something it was 12 o’clock.
