Day 79 – Schopfheim-Schlattholz

Today was the big train day. We were at the train station at 9 and purchased the Germany group ticket, knowing that we would have to change from regional train to regional train for a total of six times until we would reach Tom’s village in the black forest.

Knowing Deutsche Bahn, we were prepared for the worst and very surprised when everything worked perfectly for the first 4 trains. We had between 2 and 9 minutes of time to switch between trains at each station and all of them were perfectly on time until Offenburg, where we had a 10 minute delay. We played a funny word game during the first 4 hours of the trip and time went by very fast.

As we entered the black forest region, having lunch and taking a nap in the burning hot train, the journey took us through villages with lovely names such as Krotzingen and Müllheim (we didn’t meet any Müllheimer though… ) until we finally arrived at Tom’s in Schopfheim-Schlattholz at 4:15 and he took us to his nice house with a super cool flat full of his graffiti art.

After eating some rice salad he had prepared for us, we first took a nap until almost 7, before proceeding to some grocery shopping.

Afterwards, we took all the food and a little grill up to the mountains to have a nice barbecue with a view up there. It was very nice to be reunited again and we stayed there until 11, playing cards, talking, eating and drinking.

I'm Anna and I decided to leave everything behind and travel for a few months in order to reorganize my life.
