Why not keep maintaining the blog even though I’m at home? (Which I actually haven’t even been).
After finishing the Camino, all the farewell and emotions and coming home on Thursday evening, I had dinner with my parents and slept for 2.5 hours before we drove to a small village in northern Germany to the family reunion. My aunt had invited her brothers and sisters and their children to this reunion one year ago and this would be the first time for me to see my cousins again after 9 years. One of them even has a small child of her own now.

I must admit that going to a family reunion only a few hours after leaving the Camino bubble can be somewhat challenging. But once we all got used to each other again it was actually really nice. A funny thing about family is that even if everything changes in everyone’s lives, nothing really changes between people.
Thanks to my uncle, who is a professional beekeeper, I also had the chance to learn and see how honey is made and even help out in some of the production steps. Also, one afternoon during coffee, we could witness the very weird and special phenomenon of a huge swarm of bees leaving their hive and buzzingly crossing the garden only a few meters above us. An incredible amount of honey of many different types on the breakfast table was another nice effect of having the bees and honey production in the basement.

A visit to a clay museum, a mini hike through the forest, archery, cooking and eating food, and sitting together talking filled up the rest of the weekend until everyone left again this morning, spreading in different directions towards their homes all over Germany.

Even though I could sleep most of the time, the 4.something hours by car felt like eternity and everything hurt almost as if I had hiked them… Walking is definitely better than driving! Nevertheless, I am in my home sweet home now and can enjoy it without any real duties or plans or hurries.

Cronically tired, I fell asleep for my first real night at home today at half past 10.
