Day 25 – Bus

My body wasn’t really in the best shape this morning, which is why I went to the tram station pretty late. I was told I should take tram Nº 1, so I purchased a ticket and waited for it for 20 minutes. As the hour my bus would be leaving was getting closer, I decided to take a taxi instead, which was a total scam. Of course I saw tram Nº 1 leaving the second I got into the taxi.

The bus ride on the Bosnian side took me through small villages on bad roads at a medium speed of 30 km/h for several hours. We stopped several times so the driver could get out and have a cigarette, once we stopped on a parking lot and dropped off some large pieces of metal. Then we were in a traffic jam for about 1,5 hours, probably caused by a one-way-tunnel. The moment we got out, there was a another 15-min cigarette pause. If there is something I don’t like about this country it’s that everyone seems to treat their PTSD with cigarettes.
When we finally got to the Croatian border, we had to get out of the bus, walk across the border and then get back on the bus, drive 500m and do the same procedure again.

Instead of 7,5 hours, the hole trip took around 9 hours and I got to my hostel around 6.

Zagreb seems to be a very big city from what I saw from the bus and tram. It looks pretty much like any other European big city but I haven’t seen any of its center yet. The neighborhood I am staying in is a very nice residential area and the hostel is basically a normal house with a nice garden and terrace turned into a guesthouse with cool bedbox-dorms.

Short: I have nothing interesting to say today. Tomorrow will be a better day.

I'm Anna and I decided to leave everything behind and travel for a few months in order to reorganize my life.
